DIRECTIVE 2014-68-UE

The European Union Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (PED) has changed. Adopts new numbering, European Directive 2014/68/EU.

On 19 July 2016, the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC was repealed and 2014/68/EU began to be fully implemented.

In addition to adopting a new numbering, 2014/68/EU, there are a number of changes that have implications for pressure equipment manufacturers, importers and distributors. These include how fluids are classified, what are the requirements for manufacturers and Notified Bodies and the procedures for conformity assessment.

This is a far-reaching initiative of the European Union to align nine European Directives of the New Approach with the New Legal Framework (NML) adopted in 2008 and aiming at rationalising and simplifying the rules for placing pressure equipment on the market.
